Shooting With the SG Pro 35mm Lens Adapter
The best way to get the optimal image from your video camera is to use the best lens possible. Most camcorders do not come with interchangeable lenses, but the British company SG Pro offers an adapter to use 35mm still camera lenses on your video camera. Chuck Gloman gives it a try.

Top 10 Subjects They Should Be Teaching in Film School
Film schools are normally quite good at teaching students how to make films, Jon Reiss writes -- but they don't always help students learn how to survive in the modern media landscape. Because of this, Reiss developed a class at Cal Arts, where he teaches, entitled "Reel World Survival Skills: Everything I Wish I Had Been Taught in Film School."

Movie Maker publish problem
I have managed to publish two previous projects to my computer as a DV-AVI (PAL) file but I am now getting the published file with a squashed picture on the top half and broad green band across the bottom of the screen.

media storage drives for big FCP project
I’m helping to set up an FCP system within the next couple of months to edit a big documentary project. There’s about 350 hours of DVCam footage. We won’t be cloning tapes, so I’m hoping to put some redundancy into the storage system or figure out some alternative method to back up media.

Projector for the rear projection screen
Hello,
What tech data I should look at to make sure I can use a projector with a rear projection screen? Most importantly, I would like to keep it as close to the screen as possible (should be projection angle or something?) It would be great if you can recommend any specific brand/ model. Thanks!

Camera slot wireless
Is it going to take off or not? I know several Panasonic shops and only one is using them. Of the rental houses around one is renting the Lectro system and one the Azden. The latter has dropouts and doesn't sound nearly as good as the Lectro. Sennheiser also has a system that's a little cheaper than the lecto but I haven't seen one.

Producer Rates in DC?
Hey gang,
got an oppy' for a freelance gig in DC. I know what the market is in KC but am wondering if the range $500-$750/day sounds good for DC? Don't want to leave money on the table, also don't want to overprice myself for the market.

Anyone have experience with the Canon VIXIA HF S10
Hi, trying to find some more information on the VIXIA HF S10. I heard from some about this camera not being good in low light. But not sure what they are comparing with.
I have a Canon GL-1,, it seems for me to be great in low light. Can anyone compare the 2 cameras for low light.

Programmable Mouse
Good morning,
Does anyone have suggestions for a USB mouse for editing with multiple buttons that can be programmed to switch between editing tools? Has this been helpful for your workflow?

Best Cpyright & Clearance Resources
I was asked to review Clearance & Copyright: Everything You Need to Know for Film and Television (Paperback) by Michael C. Donaldson and prepare a lesson plan for the modules I teach on audio using it.

What else was new at NAB?
Other than the SLR/Video hybrids that everyone thinks they can be the next Soderberg with, and more AVCHD cameras, what else was new? Anything at the Lowel booth?

Lighting in a food pantry and diners...
As I'm starting on my latest documentary, there will be situations where I will be indoors dealing with a mixture of fluorescent and strong daylight, and just for good measure, tungsten here and there.
