This week the programme follows the Rolex Middle Sea Race which takes place in the heart of the Mediterranean and covers one of the most beautiful courses in the world. This race is unique in that it starts and finishes in Malta with the route including the deep azure waters of Sicily.

The days of smoking sections on p***s are long gone and soon the same will be true in hotels, bars and restaurants in many more parts of the world. Denmark, England and Wales will soon be joining other European nations to ban people lighting up in public places. However some people are fighting back. Smokers International Airline in Germany offers business and first class seats between Dusseldorf and Tokyo with a clear policy of 'smokers welcome', while the Mandarin Oriental hotel managed to negotiate an exemption to the city-wide ban for its lobby bar in Hong Kong. Against this backdop, fast:track asks whether the travel industry will soon be forced to ban smoking everywhere and how this will impact the travel industry financially.
