Editor's Note...
NASA managers late today were unable to reach a consensus on the safety of launching the shuttle Discovery Feb. 27 with suspect hydrogen flow control valves. As a result, senior managers decided not to set an official launch date, putting the oft-delayed flight on hold in the near term. Additional meetings are planned next week. While many engineers believe extensive test data show the valves can be safely flown as is, others apparently objected to pressing ahead until the issue is fully resolved. A news briefing is expected shortly and a detailed update will be posted as soon as possible.
