1) Panasonic PT-AE2000U LCD Projector
A top home theater projector in Panasonic's current line is the PT-AE2000. On the design front, the PT-AE2000 is plain, but functional, appearance, highlighted by its convenient center mounted lens. On the inside, this projector features a 3-Chip LCD panel, (1920x1080), 1080p native pixel resolution, 1,500 lumens output, and a stated contrast ratio of 16,000:1. In addition, "smooth screen" technology eliminates the LCD "screen door" effect. To make setup easier, the AE2000 also includes a split-screen "before and after" display, as well as a built-in waveform monitor. If you want excellent performance and extensive setup control options, check out the Panasonic PT-AE2000.
2) Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 1080UB 3LCD 1080p Home Theater Projector
At an MSRP of $2,999, the Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 1080UB 3LCD projector is an upgrade of its popular Home Cinema 1080. The main improvements are the addition of a second HDMI input and, more importantly, higher lumens output and better black level performance, which improves contrast and color saturation. With its native 1080p resolution and acceptable light output, the video quality is excellent. Flesh tones, overall color saturation, and contrast levels provide a very natural looking image, with none of the usual LCD artifacts, such as the screen door effect. For more details on the 1080UB check out my Short and Full Reviews, and also my Photo Closeup Profile.
3) Vivitek D326WX Compact DLP Video Projector
At an MSRP of $1,199, the Vivitek D326WX DLP Projector is a great value. With its extremely compact design this projector can be placed just about anywhere, and with its included carrying case, you can take it with you to the office or grandma's house. With its native 1280x800 native pixel resolution (approx - 720p) and impressive 2,600 lumen output capability, the video quality is very good. Flesh tones and overall color saturation produce a very natural looking image. Another bonus is that the D326WX has a very quick turn-on and cool down shut off time.
