First Look: Nikon D90 SLR DV contributor Matthew Jeppsen has long been an advocate of 35mm lens adapters, which is why he excited to learn this last fall that DSLR manufacturers were introducing still cameras with video-capture capability. Here, he takes a look at the Nikon D90, which includes 720p HD video capture capability.
In Review: SmartSound Sonicfire Pro 5 "I just got an e-mail from my music download service," a producer friend recently told DV contributor Ned Soltz. "They're raising the prices again. And trying to loop those 15-second clips when I need a little more time is a real pain." The answer, Ned suggests, is Sonicfire Pro 5 from SmartSound. Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB drive can do steady state at 150MB/sec so you would no longer need RAID for uncompressed multi stream editing.

Interesting option maybe
A really bad choice. If you or your client(s) use the Amazon Simple Storage Service and you select the new User Pays option the person accessing the data pays a fee to Amazon to cover costs so that the originator doesn’t get hit.

New Year's (Video) Resolutions

As we're heading into the new year, you've probably been thinking about how to survive (and potentially thrive) in these challenging economic times. There are no certainties, but I think we can all agree that in the coming year, you'll need every possible professional advantage. This means you need to be continually building your own personal knowledge base, equipping yourself with new information.
