[002] - amavisd-new 2.6.2
by Mark Martinec (http://freshmeat.net/users/mmartinec/)
Mon, Dec 15th 2008 03:14
Communications :: Email :: Filters
About: amavisd-new is a high-performance and reliable interface between
MTAs and one or more content checkers, including virus scanners, and/or the
Mail::SpamAssassin Perl module. It talks to an MTA via (E)SMTP or LMTP, or
by using helper programs. No timing gaps exist in the design, which could
cause a mail loss. It is normally positioned at or near a central mailer,
not necessarily where the user's mailboxes and final delivery takes place.
Changes: Detection of nonstandard bounces was improved, allowing this
release to kill more third-party backscatter without sacrificing reliable
acceptance of genuine DSN and MDN. The backscatter processing rate was
greatly improved by avoiding SA processing of killed bounces. A DKIM
documentation section was rewritten to prompt more wide-spread use of DKIM
signing by amavisd. A bug was fixed that could let the SMTP protocol get
out-of-step when SMTP connection cache is enabled. Compatibility with
SpamAssassin 3.3 (CVS head) was regained, and compatibility with Perl
5.10.0 was tested and confirmed.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers
About: Apache is the world's most popular HTTP server, being quite
possibly the best around in terms of functionality, efficiency, security
and speed.
Changes: When the ap_http_header_filter processes an error bucket, The
passed brigade is cleaned up before returning AP_FILTER_ERROR down the
filter chain. Error responses set by filters were being coerced into 500
errors, sometimes appended to the original error response. A configuration
option to insert strings in HTML HEAD has beena dded. A new LogFormat
parameter, %k, logs the number of keepalive requests on this connection for
this request.

Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
About: Apache Cayenne is a persistence framework that provides
object-relational mapping (ORM) and remoting services. It has a wealth of
unique and powerful features and can address a wide range of persistence
needs. Cayenne seamlessly binds one or more database schemas directly to
Java objects, managing atomic commit and rollbacks, SQL generation, joins,
sequences, and more. With Cayenne's Remote Object Persistence, those Java
objects can even be persisted out to clients via Web Services. With native
XML serialization, objects can be even further persisted to non-Java
clients.
Changes: Improvements were made to the Cayenne Modeler. New features
include autocomplete, copy/paste, syntax coloring, and much more. The
Cayenne core has had a host of bugfixes to ROP and EJBQL in particular, but
also improvements across many areas. Database reverse engineering is also
considerably improved.

About: ASUS G50 OLED is a daemon that controls the ASUS G50/G70 OLED to
display system monitoring statistics such as load, CPU usage, battery
level, total network traffic, CPU core operating frequency, and the current
time and date. The package includes ACPI event handlers that stop writing
to the display when the lid is closed and stop or start the daemon by one
of the blue buttons.
Changes: This release adds support for ASUS G1/G2 OLEDs and fixes a couple
of minor issues.

About: clapf is an email content filter application. It includes a
statistical (inverse chi-square) anti-spam module, interfaces to several
anti-virus products, a minefield (blackhole), spam quarantine, support for
various RBL lists, training utilities, and much more. It can be used as an
after queue content filter with Postfix (including as an appliance) or via
a local delivery agent (LDA), preferably maildrop.
Changes: A fully functional Web UI that supports both MySQL and LDAP was
added. Policy support was added. Template based virus notifications were
added. Training support was added to the spam quarantine.

Internet
Printing
Software Development :: Libraries
About: CUPS provides a portable printing layer for Unix(r)-based operating
systems. It has been developed to promote a standard printing solution for
all Unix vendors and users. CUPS provides the System V and Berkeley command
line interfaces, and uses the Internet Printing Protocol ("IPP") as the
basis for managing print jobs and queues. The Line Printer Daemon (LPD)
Server Message Block (SMB), and AppSocket (a.k.a. JetDirect) protocols are
also supported with reduced functionality. CUPS adds network printer
browsing and PostScript Printer Description ("PPD") based printing options
to support real world printing under UNIX. It includes an image file RIP
that supports printing of image files to non-PostScript printers. A
customized version of GNU Ghostscript 7.05 for CUPS called ESP Ghostscript
is available separately to support printing of PostScript files within the
CUPS driver framework. Sample drivers for Dymo, EPSON, HP, and OKIDATA
printers are included that use these filters.
Changes: This release fixes several localization, scheduler, and utility
issues, improves the performance of several key CUPS APIs, and adds a
Spanish localization.

Software Development
Software Development :: Libraries
About: ConfigLib is a C++ library for reading and writing standard Unix
and Windows .INI configuration files as easily as declaring a variable. It
provides all the objects necessary to read any setting from a configuration
file and write out changes while preserving comments. Using templates, any
serializable object or primitive can be read from a configuration file and
parsed automatically via the command line. It also includes common objects
for handling settings beyond those of the C primitives.
Changes: This update provides some minor performance improvements, and
adds better const support including const iterators.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers
About: CPPSERV is a Web application server / servlet container that
provides a Servlet-like API to C++. It also contains CSP (C++ Server Pages)
functionality, similar to pre-compiled JSP. It consists of stand-alone
application server and Web server front-ends. Modules for Apache and
lighttpd are available.
Changes: This release implements most of the outstanding TODOs and takes
care of most of the outstanding FIXMEs. It was also extensively tested
under valgrind, and memory management errors which were found in the
process were fixed. This release makes CPPSERV production-ready.

About: Cryptoolinux is a tool to learn cryptography and cryptanalysis. The
primary objective is to make a clone of CrypTool on Linux. The secondary
objective is to expand the application with new algorithms.
Changes: Correction of the Hill inverse matrix problem. Some new
individual procedures: prime number test ("bruteforce", GMP primality test)
and basic factoring algorithms (bruteforce, Fermat). New libraries for
better separation between the core and user interface. Based on GMP,
providing "elementary algorithms" for the moment. A new interface for
classical crypto algorithms. Alphabet-dependant conversion of text.

About: DashO Pro is a Java application obfuscator, optimizer, and size
reducer. It performs a dependency analysis on the application, finding all
necessary classes. It removes all unused methods and fields, producing
significant size reduction. Classes and methods can be renamed using the
unique Overload-induction renaming algorithm. Byte code optimization,
control flow obfuscation, and string encryption can also be selectively
applied. It also includes tools for watermarking jars and decoding
obfuscated stack traces.
Changes: DashO is now Runtime Intelligence Services enabled. Java
applications can be instrumented within DashO to send messages to the
Runtime Intelligence Portal. The
