Please let me know some good institution. Regards, NG NG, (Hyderabad)A: Some of the good institutes which offer Executive - PGDM include Indian Institute of Management (IIMs), Management Development Institute, Gurgaon, Xavier Labour Relations Institute, Jamshedpur, International Management Institute, Delhi, SP Jain Institute of Management, Mumbai, Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad and Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai. My weakness had been English, as I did B.Com with Hindi Medium. I fear I may not compete with to get a good college by competition. What should I do? Should I appear in CAT, MAT or please suggest some good college that offer course without a fight? Megha jain, (Faridabad and Jaipur)A: If you know your weakness is English, you won half the battle. Enroll for business English course offered by Cambridge or other language improvement centers. Some such courses are offered by British Council also. Without good communication skills and English which is the international business language you cannot get far with any MBA. The higher your aspirations, the bigger the fight! Do not expect to get into a good B-school without getting ready for serious competition. All the best!!Q: Dear Sir, I have worked for 13 years in a Rajasthan (KOTA) Power Sector company before switching to a multinational company this year only (ABB Ltd.). Now I have shifted to NCR (faridabad) and intend to pursue a MBA course. Should I prefer to appear in CAT to get regular degree or I may opt for a part time course? I am 38 year old. Please suggest…. Rakesh Kumar Jain, (Faridabad)A: For a person who has this amount of work experience, I would suggest that if you have confident and capacity, then opt for one year Executive PGDM. If you want to continue to specialize in power sector, Management Development Institute, Gurgaon has a special program for it.Q: Dear sir, I have over 7 yrs of experience in testing optical communication based telecom products. I am planning to pursue MBA in Strategic Management, work for few years and pursue PhD in Organizations & Management. I am split between pursuing part-time or full-time MBA because of my family responsibilities. Could you please advise me which one is a better option? Also, I appreciate if you could let me know which colleges in India offer better career prospects. Raj, (Bangalore)A: If you want to do PhD after MBA, you should go for full time MBA from an Institute/University. An MBA and PhD will take you around 6 years. Am not sure if your family responsibilities are heavy and you would like to afford that. In which case the compromise is a part-time MBA.... more |
