[1] Multisizer 4 - New addition to Coulter Counter range

With an extended size range capability and enhanced software
features, the new Beckman Coulter Multisizer 4 Coulter Counter
available from Meritics complements and extends their comprehensive
range of particle counting and sizing systems. With systems available
for both air and liquid borne particle measurements for particles from
a few nanometres to a few millimetres, Meritics should have something
to help with your particle characterisation problem.

[2] Need to measure nanoparticles? - Meritics has a solution for you

Whether you need to quantify the nanoparticles in air or measure
dispersions in liquids, Meritics has a number of options suitable for
helping you characterise your nanoparticles. From surface area
measurements on powders, condensation particle counters for
environmental monitoring and dynamic light scattering for measuring
particles/proteins as small as 0.6nm, call us to discuss how we can
help you.

[3] Increased detection choices for Paradigm platform

Beckman Coulter has announced four new cartridges for the Paradigm
Detection Platform, the company's user-configurable and upgradeable
multimode reader. The cartridges increase the total number of
interchangeable detection choices to 14, extending platform utility
and return on investment for Paradigm customers. The options include
two additional luminescence detection cartridges optimised for 96- and
384-well plate formats, a detection cartridge for Bret2
(Bioluminescence Resonance Energy Transfer) live cell assays and a
Rhodamine fluorescence cartridge for a selection of cyanine dyes.

[4] Plate reader detects protein aggregates

Wyatt has published a paper on its Dynapro Plate Reader dynamic light
scattering (DLS) instrument for achieving rapid detection and
characterisation of protein aggregates. The Dynapro Plate Reader
performed DLS measurements on samples within the wells of a well plate
without removing the samples or physically introducing any substances
into the wells. As a result, this instrument was able to allow for
programmed measurements of many solution conditions with minimum user
intervention.

[5] Malvern launches advanced light scattering system

Malvern has launched the Zetasizer uV - an advanced light scattering
system specifically intended for the characterisation of proteins and
other biomolecules. This latest addition to Malvern's Zetasizer range
is designed and optimised for maximum sensitivity and minimum sample
volume. The Zetasizer uV is a dedicated system that supports improved
understanding and management of a wide range of biomolecule
applications, including: optimising sample and storage conditions;
verifying the quaternary structure of protein complexes; identifying
thermal characteristics; and assessing protein solubility and sample
purity.

[7] Xcelligence monitors cell adhesion and spreading

The Xcelligence system from Roche Applied Science enables researchers
to monitor and quantitatively assess cell attachment and spreading in
real time. The technique is non-invasive and does not require cell
labelling, cell lysis or fixation. With this method, the user can
monitor the effect of matrix proteins on biological events in one
single experiment. ECM proteins such as fibronectin interact with
specific cell surface receptors, the integrins.

[8] Robotic Manifold accelerates SPE and DNA clean-up

Designed to be easily assembled and disassembled by robotic
manipulators, the Universal Robotic Manifold from Porvair Sciences
enables productive automation of SPE or DNA clean-up procedures. Able
to accommodate collection plates from 14mm - 44mm in height and
adaptable to work with three different lengths of drip director
(short, medium and long) the Universal Robotic Manifold is able to
operate with all brands of filter plate and waste collection reservoir
tray.

[9] Storage tubes for blood sample identification

Micronic has introduced a range of white, flat-bottom alphanumeric
tubes (0.5ml, 0.75ml, 1.1ml and 1.4ml) for storage of blood samples or
other highly coloured liquids. The company said its white storage tube
range offers improved readability, thereby minimising the risk of
incorrect sample identification with highly coloured samples. The
tubes are manufactured from medical grade polypropylene in a fully
automated Class 7 cleanroom environment ensuring they exhibit absolute
product consistency, near zero contaminants and compliance with US and
European Pharmacopoeia tests.
