Seven Months and Four Cumulative Updates Later, SQL Server 2005 SP3 Is Almost Here

by Kalen De***y, kalen@insidesqlserver.com

In my April 17th commentary (Ask for a Service Pack and You Shall Receive), I mentioned that Microsoft had just announced that it would be providing a third service pack for SQL Server 2005. At the end of last week, a Community Technology Preview (CTP) for SQL Server 2005 SP3 was announced at www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=D22317E1-BC64-4936-A14B-7A632B50A4CA. In that commentary, I also told you that SQL Server 2005 SP2 Cumulative Update 7 had just been announced. Now we have SQL Server 2005 SP2 Cumulative Update 11, hot off the presses. (For more information about SQL Server 2005 SP2 Cumulative Update 11, go to support.microsoft.com/kb/958735/.)
