Do you charge by the hour or by the project?
I used to always charge by the project, but as I got more and more advanced, I found that I was spending much more time on projects and since I hadn't raised my prices, I was ending up paying the clients (in effect) to do the jobs. The projects weren't paying enough to cover the expenses of building them. When I switched to charging by the hour it was a relief - I lost a couple clients but for the most part they stayed with me and we all felt better.

6 New SEO Reports - and some SEO hints
Here are 6 more SEO reports that I worked on this week. One common problem I saw was the lack of the keyword phrase on the page at all. We may not like it, but the fact is that search engines are computers, not people. They don't realize that a kitten is a cat or that grooming and brushing are the same thing. So if you're going to try to optimize a page for "kitten brushing" you won't do it if your page only refers to "cat grooming". SEO is a very literal job - don't try to optimize for a phrase you never use in your content. And here are the reports:

James Mason submitted the site "Toshiedo". This site is very pretty. It's definitely a designer's website. Unfortunately, this very design ends up punching some of my most hated design (dare I say it?) clichés.
