A Note from Linda:
Hi Criss,
I've been a woman on a mission. Can you relate to the following:
For years I've been collecting scrapbooking information and stuffing it into files, but the information began pouring in faster than I could file it. Soon the scrapbooking magazines began to pile up--unread, of course.
I finally said, "Enough is enough." I declared my office a war zone, put on my combat gear, and got to work.
I hate to admit it, but I have scrapbooking magazines from 2004 that I haven't read yet. I just can't bear to throw them away before I get a chance to look them!
If this sounds like you, let me share my current Combat Plan:
* Choose ONE scrapbook magazine per day and read it, or at least thumb through it.
* Rip out the pages you want to keep for future reference.
* Create a file system for the topics you plan to save. Make sure you file the pages that very same day.
* Promise yourself that you'll recycle the magazine at the end of the day, even if you don't find time to read it. (Panic will set in, and you'll get very creative at finding a time to read it--trust me!)
* Don't fudge.
I've been following this plan for about 5 days now, and I've made quite a dent, because on several days I've actually managed to read three magazines. (Whew!)
That's how I came across a little gem in my file cabinet . . .
Combat Mission Serendipity
When you're poking through old files you sometimes come across a treasure. Mine was a file called Fonts where I had stashed information about fonts I intended to search for and download from the internet.
You see, my favorite way to find great scrapbooking fonts is to spot them on pages featured in scrapbook magazines. I circle the name of the font in the Credits listed next to the page. Then I tear out the magazine page and put it in my Fonts folder for a rainy day when I have nothing better to do than look up and install all the fonts.
Here's a tip: After going through one magazine, look up the fonts on the computer right then and there. It's about as fast as filing the pieces of paper, and it's a lot more fun when you get to actually use the fonts!
If you like fonts, be sure to check out the Tip of the Week below to see some of the fun fonts I just installed and to get some more font tips.
Love and scrapbooking success,

Linda Sattgast

October Premier: Stitching
Lesson 2 & 3: Realistic Cross Stitching
by Sara Horton & Linda Sattgast
In lessons 2 and 3 we'll make a cross-stitch pattern and use it to create a digitally-stitched title and border for a scrapbook page.
We'll also discuss how to accomodate the curves when using cross stitches on letters, and we'll take a look at what makes a good Horizontal Strip design.
October Premier Designer Kit
by Joanne Brisebois
This is truly a nostalgic and inviting kit this month. Joanne Brisebois infused it with a gently worn fall glow that makes you want to scuff leaves along the sidewalk while thinking of your childhood days.
And take a look at her alpha and elements--they're pure fun!
This kit is included in the October Digital Scrapper Premier Issue.

7 Tips On How To Find, Install & Manage Fonts
by Linda Sattgast
Tip 1) The font I used in this photo of my husband is called Tall Dark And Handsome.
To find this font on the internet, or any other font you see in a scrapbook magazine, type the word font and the name of the font in a search engine like this: font tall dark and handsome.
You'll end up with dozens of websites that carry that font, and since this is a free font, you can download it without a single twinge of guilt!
Read Tips 2 through 7, including 6 more hot font finds!
