Surviving the Crash...No Bull Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008 Dear International Living Reader,
A friend of mine in the U.S. emailed this morning. “Wish I was anyplace but here right now,” he wrote. “I check my news feeds each day, and I find myself staring at my computer screen like a deer in the headlights. What the heck is going on?” What indeed. World stock markets are flopping like someone having a nightmare about a monster repo man snatching back the car...and the house, and the bank account, and the kids’ education, and the 401K. Commodity prices are nose-diving in the flight to cash and “safety”, and they're taking gold and silver right along to new lows. Now that’s a sign of our new world order...the global meltdown has people running to paper for safety while the price of honest-to-goodness gold drops. It’s like somebody snuck in to the storeroom of the economic sideshow magicians and set off the whole basket of smoke and mirrors at the same time. All the global financial slight-of-hand is happening at once, but the smoke never clears and the hucksters can’t get out of the handcuffs or pull the rabbit out of the hat or put the poor lady they sawed in half back together. No wonder my friend is dazed and confused. One thing is crystal clear, though...the current global economic crisis is a clear and present danger to our financial health.
