Wed, Oct 8th 2008 10:37

Scientific/Engineering :: Electronic Design Automation (EDA)

About: Covered is a Verilog code coverage utility that reads in a Verilog
design and a generated VCD/LXT dumpfile from that design and generates a
coverage file that can be merged with other coverage files or used to
create a coverage report. Covered also contains the GUI coverage report
utility that reads in a coverage file to allow interactive coverage
discovery. Areas of coverage measured by Covered are: line, toggle, memory,
combinational logic, FSM state/state-transition and assertion coverage.

Changes: A new exclude command was added to allow command-line exclusions.
Exclusion reason support and other minor features were added. Lots of bugs
were fixed.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers

About: CPPSERV is a Web application server / servlet container that
provides a Servlet-like API to C++. It also contains CSP (C++ Server Pages)
functionality, similar to pre-compiled JSP. It consists of stand-alone
application server and Web server front-ends. Modules for Apache and
lighttpd are available.

Changes: The main reason for this release is to fix a resource leak in the
lighttpd module. Fixes were made for GenericServlet::getServletName() and
HttpServletResponse::setCharacterEncoding().

[005] - Crossroads Load Balancer 2.18
by Karel Kubat (http://freshmeat.net/users/karelk/)
Wed, Oct 8th 2008 14:09

System :: Clustering/Distributed Networks
System :: Networking

About: Crossroads is a daemon running in user space, and features
extensive configurability, polling of back ends using wake up calls, status
reporting, many algorithms to select the 'right' back end for a request
(and user-defined algorithms for very special cases), and much more.
Crossroads is service-independent: it is usable for any TCP service, such
as HTTP(S), SSH, SMTP, and database connections. In the case of HTTP
balancing, Crossroads can provide session stickiness for back end processes
that need sessions, but aren't session-aware of other back ends. Crossroads
can be run as a stand-alone daemon or via inetd.

Changes: This is the next stable version. It introduces much more
configurability through the management Web interface. Furthermore,
portability issues for older MacOS versions were solved. Crossroads users
are encouraged to sign up at the forum at http://xrforum.org.

Software Development :: Testing

About: DOMjudge is an automated judgement system to run programming
contests. It provides a mechanism to submit problem solutions and
interfaces for teams, the jury, and the general public. It is lightweight,
and depends on standard software to do its task. It has a Web interface for
portability and simplicity. It is scalable, so distributed judging is easy.
There is a modular system for plugging in languages and compilers. It
features rejudging, clarifications, and detailed submission/judging info.

Wed, Oct 8th 2008 11:00

System :: Systems Administration

About: Cfengine is a tool for setting up and maintaining BSD and
System-5-like operating system optionally attached to a TCP/IP network. You
can think of cfengine as a very high level language, much higher level than
Perl or shell: a single statement can result in many hundreds of operations
being performed on multiple hosts. Cfengine is good at performing a lot of
common system administration tasks, and allows you to build on its
strengths with your own scripts.

Changes: cfservd was patched so that it no longer serves wrong data when
link->copy is used. Checksum changes now trigger persistent class
"checksum_alerts" and log to WORKDIR/state/file_hash_event_history. A
threading error was fixed for cfexecd. Windows compilation was fixed.
Windows users might have to move keys and files from /home/user/.cfagent to

where getuid is not 0.

easy to use management tool. It aims to guide users to manage very
efficient GTD workflow even if they are not familiar with GTD or are too
unorganized to follow it. The user interface is clean and simple at each
step of the workflow: the user objective should be to get things done and
spend a minimum of time with the tool itself.

Changes: A typo in the Quick Collect bar has been fixed. GTD-Free didn't
accept Unicode characters. Drag&drop was lost sometimes. Performance
improvements with the new Date widget. A number of smaller GUI tweaks.

[030] - ns4 4.2.0
by Chris Mason (http://freshmeat.net/users/chrimaso/)
Wed, Oct 8th 2008 10:47

Internet
System :: Networking :: Monitoring
Utilities

About: ns4 is a configuration management tool which allows the automated
backup of just about anything, but it was designed for routers and
switches. If you are able to log into it through a CLI, you can back it up.
Commands are defined within a configuration file, and when they are
executed, the output is sent to a series of FTP/SFTP servers for archiving.
As well as archiving configurations, it allows scripts to be run on nodes;
this allows configurations to be applied en masse and allows conditional
logic so different bits of scripts are run on different nodes.

Changes: The main new feature in this release is ssh dynamic port
forwarding, which allows you to use a single ssh proxy to connect to
multiple nodes simultaneously when ssh is acting in Socks mode (-D). This
release also includes other new features as well as numerous fixes.

Communications :: File Sharing
System :: Filesystems

About: AFS is a distributed filesystem which offers a client-server
architecture, transparent data migration abilities, scalability, a single
namespace, and integrated ancillary subsystems.

Changes: UNICODE support and optimization on Windows. This release
prevents a crash that could occur when multiple file/directory change
notifications were processed simultaneously. On Mac OS, AFS claims more
free space so that Finder will attempt file copies. On Linux, spurious
ENOTDIR during fakestat is avoided. An enhanced vldb error checker is
included. A double-free is corrected in Rx.

[045] - Stunnix VBScript and ASP Obfuscator and Encoder 3.8
by Stunnix (http://freshmeat.net/users/stunnix/)
Wed, Oct 8th 2008 18:55

Internet
Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Compilers

About: Stunnix VBS-Obfus protects your VBScript code from potential
analysis, study, or reworking by unwanted parties. It's both an obfuscator
and encoder for the VBScript code. It converts the VBScript in raw .vbs
files, or in ASP or HTML pages into a highly obfuscated form, making it
extremely difficult to study, analyse, or reuse, while fully retaining
functionality of the original source code. It optionally adds expiration
and hostname checking. It has a lot of options to control all aspects of
code hiding, and has full support for all syntax constructs. It is designed
to be multi-module aware.

Changes: Greatly improved support for huge input files. Parsing of HTML is
much better. Support for processing VBScript inside files of a custom
structure (code is protected between delimiters defined in external files,
which is useful for various custom files that define callbacks in VBScript,
e.g. PowerDesigner Experts).

there are also a few nice usability improvements. This includes support for
reverting uncommitted and unstaged changes, as well as reloading of
repository references when refreshing the views using them. Note that this

Wed, Oct 8th 2008 10:46

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: Wiki

About: wiki2xhtml can create complete Web pages and uses a clean XHTML
syntax. It can insert galleries, a menu, a footer, and nearly all elements

can be adjusted by hand, and custom ones can be used as well. wiki2xhtml
generates the HTML pages from simple text files in the MediaWiki syntax.
You can also use own (X)HTML code or other script languages inside; there
are no restrictions. The GUI is composed of a Code Paste Window where you
