Local recreational vehicle industry hurt, helped by energy costs
Even as the rest of the nation's RV industry faces slumping sales, Oklahoma recreational vehicle dealers said they are seeing a compensating increase from the local oil industry. "We're seeing a lot of oilfield workers moving from site to site, and rather than waste their company's per diem living expense payments on hotel rooms, they're buying their own RVs," said Chad Eaton, service manager with Leisure Time RV.
Cherokees, Acorn buy aerospace supplier
Cherokee Nation Businesses and Acorn Growth Cos. have bought Aerospace Products S.E. of Huntsville, Ala. The purchase price was not disclosed. The Cherokees acquired a majority position. Aerospace Products supplies parts and logistics services to Boeing, Honeywell, Bell Helicopter, and other firms from offices in Huntsville, San Antonio and Wichita, Kan. The 30-employee company supports several commercial and governmental aircraft programs, including the KC-135 program based at Tinker Air Force Base.

Judge approves cash collateral expenditures for mall owners
A judge has approved an order allowing the owners of bankrupt Shepherd Mall to use cash collateral through Dec. 31, limited to expenditures required to meet operating expenses outlined in a budget submitted to the court. VTA Oklahoma City outlined monthly cash needs ranging from $176,246 for September, to almost $1.3 million in December, for expenses including payroll, utilities, taxes, management fees and other needs.

Bricktown buildings get ready for new use
An ailing water tower atop a Bricktown building is set for a face-lift. The ornamental cylindrical cone-topped water tower on top of a building at 2 E. California Ave. has been there since 1994. Prior to that, a functioning water tower sat on top of the building for several decades adorned with a logo for Red Ball Transfer Storage. The water tower repair and renovation is part of a larger project to take two adjoined buildings that have sat largely vacant and turn them into a retail, restaurant, office, and residential project.

Court: Legal procedure unfair to elderly homeowner
Dolla Garcia has a chance to get her house back, the Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled Tuesday. Though her home was sold by the Oklahoma County treasurer for unpaid taxes, the court ruled Garcia is entitled to redeem the property.
