This week the BBC's correspondent Roland Buerk will continue to report on the developments in Sri Lanka, where tension is high after the government's decision to end the ceasefire with the Tamil Tiger rebels. With soaring oil prices, the country on the brink of recession and consumer spending falling in other developed nations, it's a rocky road ahead for US car makers at the Detroit auto show. The BBC's business team is in the driving seat, bringing all the news from the show. Plus, as the screen writers strike continues, Sunday night will see a low-key press conference in Hollywood announcing the winners of the Golden Globe Awards which the BBC's Los Angeles correspondent David Willis will be covering.

World Debate: Future of Learning |
| |
The creation of a low-cost laptop computer and the establishment of the One Laptop Per Child project for the developing world, has led to controversy among educationalists, governments and the development community. In this week's The World Debate, presenter Zeinab Badawi asks whether the $100 laptop is the future for learning in the developing world, and if it might bridge the digital divide, while helping the economies of the poorest counties to grow. Filmed in Kuala Lumpur, the panel for this debate includes Professor Sharifah Hapsah from the National University of Malaysia and Matt Keller from the One Laptop Per Child project.

Our World: Terrorist 007 |
| |
For almost two years, intelligence services around the world tried to uncover the identity of an internet hacker who spread hatred online and taught other jihadists how to use their computers for the cause. Our World tells the story of this young extremist who called himself Terrorist 007, and the efforts of those trying to track him down. Terrorist 007 built links to alleged terror groups in North America, Bosnia and Scandinavia before being traced to London. His case has raised fears that extremists are using the internet not just to radicalise young Muslims but also to plan attacks.
