1. 2008 Union Leaders of the Future Scholarship winners announced

  • A woman who serves as a steward in a male-dominated workplace, and
  • A union member who helped transform a dispirited workplace into a showcase of union pride – These are the stories of just three of the 13 winners of the 2008 Union Leaders of the Future Scholarship Award.

Begun in 2007, the Union Leaders of the Future Scholarship program, is designed to help more women and people of color become union leaders, by providing awards up to $3,000 to help with the cost of continuing their education or training. This year, Union Privilege distributed nearly $36,000 in scholarship money to winners representing 11 unions.
