by Bill la Forge (http://freshmeat.net/users/laforge49/)

Database
Documentation
Information Management

About: AgileWiki is meant to create software systems which are fluid,
easily configured and can be reorganized on-the-fly to meet ever changing
requirements. It includes a COW-based database, the Rolonics programming
paradigm, and semantic inferencing.

Changes: Dialogs, usually backed by bean property editors, are now used
extensively for command argument entry and correction, while keeping
command processing and the front end completely decoupled. A bug in
HistoricalComboBox has been fixed as well.

[002] - Automize 8.06
by Melvin Desilva (http://freshmeat.net/users/desilvam/)
Thu, Sep 11th 2008 09:09

Internet :: File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
System

About: Automize is a task scheduler and automation software that can
automate a variety of tasks, including FTP transfers, FTP monitoring, Web
downloads, Web site monitoring, email checking and sending, Telnet, ping,
database SQL, advanced zip, unzip, copy, synchronize folders, and directory
and file monitoring. In addition, the chaining feature can run tasks in
sequence or conditionally depending on exit codes. Additional features
include email notifications on task failure, FTP browsing, ZIP file viewer,
extensive logging, remote task control and more. It supports dynamic
variables to achieve advanced automation tasks. Email notification profiles
based on exit code can be set for tasks. Schedules can be synchronized to
allow or prvent overlapping schedules. Dynamic variables allow for advanced
automation solutions. A number of command line utilities are available to
remotely and programatically control tasks and the scheduler.

Changes: The front panel was redesigned. The tasks menu was removed and a
"New Task" button was added to the main toolbar. A "New Visual Script" task
was added. This extends the 7.x Chain task. The visual script task includes
a script tester. The visual script task allows new and existing tasks to be
added to the step list. The visual script task allows direct editing of
task steps. A "New SubDirectory Loop" task was added. A "New SubDirectory
Monitor" task was added. An FTP module was added, based on another
third-party FTP API. The new FTP module supports FTPS (both explicit and
implicit SSL and TLS).

by tjsa (http://freshmeat.net/users/tjsa/)
Thu, Sep 11th 2008 09:20

Text Editors
Text Processing :: Filters

About: ffe is a flat file extractor. It can be used for reading different
flat file structures and displaying them in different formats. ffe can read
fixed length and separated text files and fixed length binary files. It is
a command line tool developed under GNU/Linux. The main areas of use are
extracting particular fields or records from a flat file, converting data
from one format to an other, e.g. from CSV to fixed length, verifying a
flat file structure, as a testing tool for flat file development, and
displaying flat file content in human readable form.

Changes: Records can now be identified using regular expressions using the
new keyword "rid". The -l/--loose option does not cause the program to
abort when an invalid block is found from binary input. Instead of
aborting, the next valid block is searched from the input stream.

[032] - Pantheios 1.0.1 beta 155
by Dr Proctor (http://freshmeat.net/users/DrProctor/)
Thu, Sep 11th 2008 06:45

Software Development :: Libraries
System :: Logging

About: Pantheios is a C/C++ logging API library. It offers an optimal
combination of complete type-safety, very high efficiency, genericity, and
extensibility. It is simple to use and extend, highly portable (platform
and compiler independent), and it upholds the C tradition of only paying
for what you use. Pantheios supports logging of message statements of
arbitrary complexity, consisting of heterogenous types. Pantheios supports
filtering of log messages based on severity level.

Changes: This release fixes a defect in component test for the
pantheios::w2m inserter class, whereby winstl::w2m was used on Unix, rather
than stlsoft::w2m. This release requires STLSoft 1.9.52.

[038] - s11n 1.2.8
by stephan beal (http://freshmeat.net/users/s11n/)
Thu, Sep 11th 2008 23:40

About: s11n ("serialization") is a C++ library for easily serializing a
wide variety of objects, including PODs, STL containers, and user-defined
Serializable types. It is completely data-format agnostic and currently
supports 7 data formats, including three XML dialects and one MySQL-powered
back-end. Its author, with atypical hubris, truly believes s11n to be the
most advanced, most flexible, simplest-to-use, and utterly most powerful
serialization framework ever implemented in C++.

Changes: This release pulls in a number of minor enhancements that were
added during the development of QBoard, such as the ability to properly
register a single Serializable type with multiple base Serializable
interfaces (a feature that "should" have always worked, but didn't).

Scientific/Engineering :: Visualization

About: Social Networks Visualiser (SocNetV) imports and exports various
network file formats (pajek, sociomatrix, dot) and displays the network on
screen. It can create random networks (lattice, same degree, etc.). The
user can visually modify an existing network or draw a new one using the
mouse. Network and actor properties, such as distances, centralities,
diameter, etc., can easily be computed.

Changes: Zoom in and out via mouse wheel works nicely. Nodes (triangles
and diamonds) resize as they should. Node shapes are now saved to Pajek
files. There is a new layout method for displaying node sizes according to
their outdegrees. Code cleanup and bugfixes in loading Pajek files.
