When Ricoh Co. Ltd. agreed to buy Ikon Office Solutions Inc. for $1.6 billion earlier this week, one thing that was clear was that Ikon management was going to stay on to run the big office equipment distribution business based in Malvern.

They have a million reasons to do so.

Under executive retention agreements, CEO Matthew J. Espe and five other senior executives would receive some hefty payments if they stay a full two years following the sealing of the deal.

Comcast Corp. sees a new-customer boom on the horizon, thanks to the government-ordered transition to digital TV. The nation's largest cable provider says two million households that get free television in its cable-franchise areas may be forced to enroll with Comcast or another pay-TV company when the digital transition occurs.
Advertisements appearing this week that attack GlaxoSmithKline P.L.C. don't beat around the bush: "DON'T BE FOOLED: GlaxoSmithKline's scare tactics are only concerned with protecting its profit, not the health of people with HIV/AIDS," the ads read.
