GLOBAL EXCHANGE

In your community, who decides if corporations can pollute or drive local business out?

From water withdrawl to mining, GMOs, refineries and more, the corporate few wield the law against our communities, endangering our health, safety, and the environment.

We can change that.

The Daniel Pennock Democracy School
October 24-26
San Francisco, CA

A New Framework:
Rights-Based Organizing
Confronted by corporate harms, more than 100 communities across the USA have decided to do something different, enacting laws that place the rights of communities and nature over the claimed "rights" of corporations. This organizing stems from a new understanding about the origins of corporate power, learned in Democracy School.

Seeking a Paradigm Shift?
Come to Democracy School!
Global Exchange is bringing the famous Danniel Pennock Democracy School, created by the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund (CELDF), to San Francisco! This empowering weekend-long training teaches a dramatic new way of looking at our role as citizens and confronting the power and rights used by corporations to deny the rights of people and the earth.

If you take no other training this year, do the Democracy School. It is superlative unfolding revelation of how corporations have hijacked democracy. It meticulously deconstructs the historical arc that brought us to this precipice. But most importantly, it then departs into the highly pragmatic and inspiring work now underway that is slowly turning the tide. This Second American Revolution may be the most important political work going on anywhere in the country or the world.
--Kenny Ausubel, Founder and Co-Executive Director, Bioneers

Democracy School was a mind-blowing experience. During the School, I was forced to come to grips with the understanding that I really knew very little about the true structure of law that controls our activism. Democracy School is a must for everyone who seeks to be liberated from our defensive, after-the-fact reactive organizing strategies.
-Krishnaveni Gundu, Calhoun County (TX) Resource Watch
