I don't have any information regarding this, but my son carried an Epipen from the age of 12 following a bad reaction to a wasp sting. While the nurse at the school held it for him, he was taught to use it himself and would have been expected to do so if required.

Donna
I would not lose too much sleep on the theory of this. Rather, what is the intended purpose of the holder's card? Is it to convey to the recipient his/her position in the hierarchy (e.g. Director, hall porter), his/her profession (e.g. librarian, lawyer, accountant) or what? Be clear about that. As to other details, e-mail, direct phone, organisation phone, mobile/cellphone, organisation website are likely ones. Qalifications need be mentioned only if they are likely to mean something to the recipient.
In my experience (and I have a huge collection of cards received), layout is not important. Your organisation may well have a house style which this person should follow though, to show he/she is part of that organisation.

Open source software may be a viable alternative in this instance, and one that certainly gets my vote for ease of use is Openoffice which can be found at:
http://why.openoffice.org/
The Openoffice software suite is comparable to say Microsoft office in that it contains applications equivalent to Word Document, Powerpoint, Excel, also a has a graphics programme and a database creator.
As they say on their website:
"...and if you already have files from another office package - OpenOffice.org 2 will probably read them with no difficulty."
The Openoffice sofware suite can be downloaded for free from:
http://download.openoffice.org/

I don't know how much data is involved or what use you have to make of it, but I'm all for 'uncomplicated' solutions - why not try a Word table? They are quite versatile, can perform caclulations and can be used for merge functions; and I believe, you can transfer data to and from Access or Excel. Might be better that trying to go for something completely new.

I guess a reasonable starting point might be to look at how long people spend each day reading different newsapapers on:
http://www.nrs.co.uk/time_spent_reading/time_spent_reading
Given some of the time frames involved, it seems extremely unlikely that anyone actually reads a paper from cover to cover, unless they've managed to cultivate an extremely fast reading speed!

Does anyone know if there's a report out there that talks about the growth of the information provision industry over the past ten year ?. I'm looking for something that evaluates the major players (Bloomberg, Reuters etc) as well as the smaller ones.
Any suggestions gratefully received !!!
