One of our favorite values in Bordeaux style red blends is the Montgras Quatro 2006. As you may have guessed, the name alludes to the traditional Bordeaux style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and Carmenere (the "lost grape of Bordeaux") The idea here, as in Bordeaux, is to alter the traditional concept of producing single varietal wines in favor of wines made of blends with more complexity and structure. It's an absolute steal at $14.99 -- loaded with plum, blueberry, ripe figs, dark chocolate and black pepper. Sweet, soft round tannins up front, with a rich, powerful finish. It's no surprise that the last 3 vintages have been rated 90 points or better. Wine Enthusiast just rated the new release 90 points -- we think it's an exceptional bargain. Order now.
