Why Implement a Tiered Data Protection Plan? Your Business Could be at Stake
Every organization relies on the integrity of data for sustaining its business. If that information is lost, the likelihood of the business' survival decreases dramatically -- one estimate claims that 7 out of 10 firms that experience a major data loss go out of business within a year. Using only one form of data protection can result in an excessive risk of data loss, or the inability to meet service level objectives. Less critical data may be able to be protected with tape backup technology, while more critical data will require disk-based backup. Protecting data across multiple tiers like this does not come without cost, however. The key is being able to protect the right information with the right service level, at the right cost, at the right time.
