Many of us have certainly heard about the statement made by previous Head of IBM Thomas Watson in 1943: “I think there is a world market for about five computers.” In 1977, Ken Olson, founder and Head of DEC, famously quipped, “There is no reason for any individual to have a computer in his/her home.” The world of today has contradicted both of them, and the computer, especially since the launch of the Internet, has become one of the most important tools of the human race.
 Where do we find the first steps of the computer in history? Maybe in the abacus which was first used thousands of years ago in Mesopotamia? Maybe around the 17th century as the first calculation machines started to be used? In recent years, the evolution of the computer has progressed extremely fast, and the computer has become smaller and smaller, but also more capable. First introduced in the late ’70s, the home computer is ubiquitous today and is now used by all types of people, including those grandmothers who called computer manufacturers when they first bought the machine to complain that the keyboard was not as user-friendly as their familiar sewing machine.
The list of computer-related anecdotes is long—who knows which one of them is based on a true story?
