Rock 'n' Roll Camp for Girls

How to Start a Band, Write Songs, Record an Album, and Rock Out!

From the Bay Area to Brooklyn, from Sweden to London to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, the Rock 'n' Roll Camp for Girls is teaching girls ages 8 to 18 how to let loose and rock out. Founded in 2001, the Portland, Oregon-based non-profit aims to build self-esteem through music creation and performance.

The camp was featured in the critically acclaimed documentary, Girls Rock! The Movie, and now girls everywhere can experience the camp's inspiring, hands-on approach and advice from its all-star crew of female musicians—including members of Sleater-Kinney, the Gossip, Mirah, and others—all year long in the book, Rock 'n' Roll Camp for Girls.

Venus Zine writes, "Whether offering advice on how to find the right guitar or deconstructing the notion of selling out, Rock 'n Roll gives girls a much-needed space to redefine themselves by embracing ideas sorely lacking in much of todays young female demographic. ROCK 'N' ROLL CAMP FOR GIRLS BOOK RELEASE PARTY

Join the Portland Rock 'n' Roll Camp for Girls at the official book release celebration for Rock 'n' Roll Camp for Girls. The event will host readings from the book, live performances, and music from DJ Automaton. Many of the contributors to the book will also be in attendance, so be prepared to rock out! All ages are welcome.
