Busch Chases NASCAR History In Kentucky
Kyle Busch stands a victory away from making NASCAR history as the first driver to win a race in all three of the NASCAR's national series in successive starts. Busch, a two-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series winner in 2008, hopes to add Saturday's Built Ford Tough 225 at Kentucky Speedway to last weekend's NASCAR Sprint Cup/Nationwide Series sweep at Chicagoland Speedway. Busch already is a member of a select group of drivers who have won in all three national series in the same season, posting a victory each year from 2005-08. Terry Labonte (1995) and Kevin Harvick (2003) also pulled off that triple.

Bodine Returns to Victory *** at Music City Motorplex: Friday night´s Old School RacersReunion.com Shootout at the Music City Motorplex was truly a look into the track´s incredible history as Geoff Bodine, the winner of the last NASCAR Sprint Cup race held at the Motorplex in 1984, made his return to victory *** in dramatic fashion. Competing against other NASCAR greats such as Harry Gant, Sterling Marlin, Randy LaJoie, Dave Marcis and Charlie Glotzbach, Bodine proved that he still knows his way around the high banked 5/8th mile track. The results: 1) Geoff Bodine; 2) Sterling Marlin; 3) Randy LaJoie; 4) Harry Gant; 5) Lake Speed; 6) Joe Ruttman; 7) Dave Marcis 8) Charlie Glotzbach; 9) Larry Pollard; 10) D.K. Ulrich; 11) Jack Ingram.(Music City Motorplex PR)(7-19-2008) Comment here

Gillett Evernham hosts National Guard Unit: The final off-weekend of the 2008 Sprint Cup season saw many Gillett Evernham Motorsports employees put in a little extra time at the team's race shop Friday night. But it wasn't to work on race cars. The employees played host to soldiers from a local North Carolina National Guard unit that plans to deploy overseas in 2009. More than 100 uniformed troops and their families enjoyed food, pit stop demonstrations, entertainment and employee tours of the race shops that are home to Kasey Kahne's Budweiser Dodge, Elliott Sadler's Best Buy/Stanley Tools/McDonald's Dodge and Patrick Carpentier's Valvoline/LifeLock Dodge. The guard unit detachment is from the Alpha Battery 1-113 Field Artillery Unit of the North Carolina Army National Guard. The battery is headquartered in Lincolnton, N.C. while the detachment calls Statesville home. Friday night's event marks the first public effort of the Gillett Evernham Motorsports Soldier Outreach committee. The committee plans future fundraisers to aid the unit and its families while the troops are overseas. (Gillett Evernham Motorsports PR)(7-19-2008) Comment here

Crane Cams 250 Race Day Updates
By Paul Warner
Saturday, July 19, 2008 10:30:00 AM
Kenly, N.C.-Good morning from Southern National Raceway Park!
Today’s festivities are underway with the Hooters Pro Cup teams finishing up tech and prepping their cars for the two-hour practice coming up at 11 a.m.
Of the drivers on the entry list, only Derrick Kelley didn’t make the trip. Jay Fogleman and Allen Purkhiser are moonlighting from the Northern Division this weekend and are on site for tonight’s running of the Crane Cams 250 presented by Awesome Awnings. Brad Rogers, originally scheduled to fill in for Trevor Bayne tonight, is not entered. Dange Hanniford may fill in for Bayne, but it’s not official as of now.
Nearly 15 drivers used one of their five tests this season to prepare for tonight’s event, proving that the stakes are high with the season winding down. Most drivers believe the track will race a little wider than it did last year, when the track was freshly paved.
Keep up with today’s activities via Holley Performance Online Scoring by clicking the link on the right side of the
