Flip-flops may affect health

Flip-flops are a summer fashion staple among college students and Americans, but a recent study from Auburn University warns that the shoes could have a negative effect on health if worn too often. Researchers asked 39 college-aged individuals to wear either flip-flops or athletic shoes and walk on a platform that measured step force and stride length.

UT employee sued for false Web story

An Oklahoma publishing company and one of its beat reporters have filed a lawsuit against a UT employee who allegedly published a fake news article using several of the company's copyrighted trademarks. The Oklahoma Publishing Company and Jacob "Jake" Trotter, a reporter for The Oklahoman newspaper, are suing James Conradt, a service manager for UT Information Technology Services, for copyright infringement after Conradt allegedly produced a false news story using The Oklahoman online news template with Trotter's byline, said Oklahoman editor Ed Kelley. Assistant prof gets $1.3 million

A UT assistant professor of nursing received $1.3 million dollars on Monday from the National Institutes of Health to research how women of different ethnic origins respond to disabilities. Tracie Harrison's four-year study will investigate why Latino women seem to suffer more than non-Latino women with the same disability. Full Story

5 Lebanese men freed in exchange for 2 bodies

BEIRUT, Lebanon - Five Lebanese militants got a hero's welcome from tens of thousands of cheering Hezbollah supporters and kisses from the U.S.-backed prime minister Wednesday after being set free by Israel in exchange for the bodies of two Israeli soldiers. Full Story
