Hyper-V, a key feature of Windows Server 2008, is now released to manufacturing (RTM). You can now download the update for Hyper-V RTM. To be eligible in the Windows Server 2008 Logo program for the Hyper-V designation, tests must be conducted on the latest available version of Hyper-V.

Microsoft is providing open connections to its high-volume products - Windows Vista (including the .NET Framework), Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008, Office 2007, Exchange Server 2007, and Office SharePoint Server 2007. As a developer, you now have full access to information about protocols, binary file formats, and other specifications for these products that can be used to create solutions.

From the Editor
You don't have to be a developer long to realize that some of the best stuff that you can get your hands on comes from your community of fellow developers. At Microsoft, we try to encourage that spirit of sharing and collaboration. For instance, the Visual Studio Gallery is the new site for all Visual Studio extensions. It includes everything from community-built power toys to advanced industry-partner solutions. All developers can post info about their Visual Studio extensions to the Visual Studio Gallery. And while you are at it, here's a reminder to download Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack (SP) 1 Beta and the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack (SP) 1 Beta.

Also in Visual Studio 2008, Visual Basic 9 has a set of language features that allows developers to work with XML in a much more productive way using a new API called LINQ to XML. Read "Sharpening Your Axis with Visual Basic 9" to get help mastering these new features for working with XML in Visual Basic.

Here's another great resource to bookmark: Add this Windows Presentation Foundation Class Library page for quick access to namespaces that contain Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) APIs.

And speaking of frameworks, the .NET Framework 3.5 melds together the runtimes of Windows Workflow Foundation (WF) and Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) for easy access to WCF from within WF. Read "Integrate Windows Workflow Foundation with Windows Communication Foundation" for an overview of how to use it in your WF/WCF applications.
