Do we really care ?

Every week, probably every day, we in the media, advertising and the communication industries are mostly worried about the next big story, about advertising spend and yield. It is as they say — “the Bottom Line” is all that matters. We are also worried about how to maintain thought leadership in our editorial products and obviously the subsequent revenue leadership. I for one, am also worried about the serious talent crunch in these industries. However, this week I am worried about two major issues that have been worrying me for quite some time. These two issues are impacting us surely and steadily but not so obviously and we definitely need to give them a serious thought. Trust me I am not talking of Television Reduction Points or Hindi News TV or the average percentage raise in salaries. Almost everyone in India and in the Indian media industry is evaluating the impact of the economic slowdown and wondering how it will affect the their lives.
