Executives of two Pennsylvania-based Blue Cross insurance companies were hammered about whether they would compete with each other if they were not allowed to merge, as hearings opened today in Pittsburgh on their request to join forces.

Last week, while you were looking forward to your backyard barbecue, 1,500 Philadelphia-area students got their first taste of the office.
These summer interns are part of the third year of a program championed by the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and egged on by Mayor Nutter. VGX Pharmaceuticals Inc., a private Blue Bell DNA-based vaccine developer, says it will acquire American Stock Exchange-listed Inovio Biomedical Corp., a San Diego vaccine-delivery developer, in a complex deal that values Inovio at around $1.05/sh, or $46M.
