After years of going elsewhere Elisabetta and I finally took the kids to Sardegna, Italy's other major Island. Quite beautiful, and the water of the coves was every bit as spectacular as my Brother-in-Law has always said, while inland it is harshly beautiful. We will return!

2) Il Golfo di Orosei
This was our first time in Sardegna and we really weren't prepared -- not tan yet, and didn't bring the hiking shoes necessary to reach some of the coves. But we'll be back (well tanned and with mask & fins too), and as you look at these photos you may decide to come too.

3) Villaggio Alba Dorata
Where we stayed -- a pleasant, and also quite reasonable resort. You will need a car to get around, but it is a good base for exploring the western coast of Sardegna, which isn't as exclusive as some parts of the island, but has more beautiful coves and beaches.
