Happy 4th of July! For those of you not in the US, it's pretty much a big deal over here. Nothing shows love of country like buying large explosive devices and blowing up little bits of it. It's overcast and cool in Seattle, which is surprising since it rains on nearly every 4th. Since we are on the water and a lot of the places are more beach cabins than houses, the neighbors tend to go a little crazy. The guy two house over, which is just under half a mile away, has enough mortars to start a small war. His display rivals that of a medium sized municipality and he has been practicing for the last week. The dogs and cats usually freak out for the first two days, but now the dogs just growl a little bit in their sleep. I was surprised how many old Gurkhas I found in the humidor, so I've been smoking a few of those, some newer Padillas and some Perdomo Lot 23s. Enjoy the specials and have a safe and happy 4th!

At JR we just work our profit margins based on our cost. It's a simple formula:
We take our cost and add in some profit for me, and then we add in the same amount for my wife LaVonda because she's an equal partner. Then we add in the retail value of some cheap junk from China and multiply that number by Pi = 3.14 - that's a numerical figure that I had to learn in school, but never found another use for until I got into the cigar business. Then whatever the resulting number is, we change the last two digits to 95 cents because my father told me to do that a long time ago.
