Zenith Optimedia Delhi has won the Cargill India business following a multi-agency pitch that was held in May. Cargill India is the owner of edible oil brands like Nature Fresh and Gemini. The account size has been pegged upwards of Rs 12 crore. Maxus is the incumbent agency. The creative duties are being handled by JWT.  more...

Last week I had expressed my views on the Future of News TV, and what is the kind of ‘news’ that we should expect in the broadcasting space as viewers and advertisers. The last few years have seen the news media grow at wildfire pace with same ideas and innovations (at least in some cases) co-existing. But the time for the next big fresh idea that cuts through clutter, and makes a positive difference to the lives of viewers and to the people in the business of News TV, is here. Even as the thoroughbreds of the genre are still busy figuring that out, I want to raise four more issues that once again confront everyone involved in the news ecosystem.

“We are not as strong in India as we would like to be, but you cannot wave a wand”

In the cutthroat competitive world of the media agency business, market research and digital expertise are areas that media holding companies are investing millions in, and the investments increase year-on-year. With Synovate and Isobar under its umbrella, Aegis has made significant strides in these domains of the business, and that is one of the reasons that suitors – from Vincent Bollore to Martin Sorrell have tried to acquire this media brand. Aegis may have a good time globally but it has not had the best of its experiences in India. Despite launching its OOH asset Posterscope in India a few years back, Aegis had to deactivate this brand here following its “divorce” with its India partner Percept, during the end of 2005. This incidentally is one of the significant moves that the brand had embarked on, under the leadership of Robert Lerwill, who was appointed the Group CEO of Aegis in February 2005. more...
