  This week on BBC World there will be special coverage of the Serbian parliamentary elections which could potentially be a showdown betwen pro-Western reformers and hardline nationalists. Presenter Lucy Hockings will be in Belgrade reporting on the activities as well as interviewing leading politicians and analysts. There will also be BBC correspondents reporting from Kosovo, where the Serbian result will be watched closely, ahead of the UN's announcement of its plans for the future status of the province. Plus, BBC World reports live from the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre in Beverley Hills, with the announcement of the nominations for the 79th Annual Academy Awards.

  Davos    
 
More than two thousand leaders from business, politics, academia, the media and civil society will once again meet at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland this week. BBC World will have extensive news and business coverage from Davos and presenters Nik Gowing (pictured), Jonathan Charles and Manisha Tank will be speaking with the biggest global names in government and business.

  Climate Refugees    
 

Throughout January, BBC World previews the Climate Watch season, which is scheduled for April, with insightful documentaries on the subject. This week, the BBC's environment analyst, Roger Harrabin travels to Bangladesh to see how the country's preparing to meet the challenge of tens of millions of people displaced due to climate change.

  The World Uncovered: The Tea Boy Of Gaza    
 

This week's The World Uncovered tells the story of Mahmoud (pictured), a 12-year-old boy who supports his family by selling tea in Gaza's biggest hospital.  He struggles to make a living on the wards and has to avoid the shoot-outs that occur inside the hospital itself.  Filmed before and during the recent Israeli re-occupation of the Gaza Strip, this observational documentary uses Mahmoud's experiences, as well as remarkable access inside the Hamas prime minister's office, to show the reality of life under the new Hamas government.
