Social-Emotional Needs of Gifted Children: A Top Priority!
Dear Criss,

Supporting Emotional Needs of the Gifted (SENG) invites you to its 25th Anniversary Conference, the SENG Summit, July 18th though 20th in Salt Lake City, Utah. Whether you're a parent of gifted children, a grandparent, a gifted adult or child, an educator, or a clinician, you'll find over 50 sessions to help you address the social-emotional needs of those in the gifted community.
SENG's Beginning: Purpose from Tragedy
In 1980, Dallas Egbert was a sixteen-year-old college student from Dayton, Ohio.  Brilliant and promising, yet despondent because he wanted to be "normal," he dropped out of college and, unable to overcome his inner troubles, took his own life. As a living memorial to their son, his parents and others advocated for a program to support the needs of gifted individuals. Supporting Emotional Needs of the Gifted was developed by James T. Webb and other psychologists to focus attention on the unique needs of gifted individuals and to support programs that enhance their lives. Today, SENG is a nationwide organization, a network of caring individuals who strive to make it "OK to be gifted."
What You'll Find at the Conference
The SENG Summit offers dozens of sessions on giftedness given by experts from across the country in a comfortable, nurturing atmosphere. You'll find comprehensive selections for parents, educators and health professionals, SENG Institute advanced-level sessions, a Children's Program and Teen Program - even a professional continuing education program. Explore topics related to misdiagnosis and twice-exceptional, education, parenting and grandparenting, gifted adults, multicultural outreach and more. Special this year is a gala celebration of SENG's 25th Anniversary and the launch of the first annual National Parenting Gifted Children Week.
