Advertisers Still Hesitant When it Comes to Imus

Latest Controversy Means They'll Continue to Hold Off

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Don Imus is once again under scrutiny for making racially charged remarks on his "Imus in the Morning" program, but it doesn't appear it will make a difference to advertisers this time around. The last media storm the shock jock created prompted advertisers such as Procter & Gamble and General Motors to pull their ad spending from CBS Radio and MSNBC, where his show also appeared. But his new gig at Citadel Communications' ABC Radio Networks has yet to attract any of those major advertisers.

The Web Is Where It's At for Youth Vote

Over 75% Prefer Online Sources Over Traditional Media for Election Info

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- It's old-school. It's hard to access and share. It's too controlling. Those are just some of the reasons the "youth vote" is turning away from traditional media to get their election-year fix. NBC News Considering Ex-Newsweek Editor for New D.C. Chief

The New York Observer reports that while NBC News has appointed Tom Brokaw to helm "Meet the Press" following the sudden death of Tim Russert, the Washington bureau still needs a chief. Several sources at the network told The Observer that they believe NBC News' senior VP Mark Whitaker, is the most likely candidate to land the gig. Mr. Whitaker, 50, joined NBC News in May 2007 as the No. 2 executive in the news division behind its president, Steve Capus. Mr. Whitaker spent the bulk of his career at Newsweek, eventually serving as the top editor from 1998 until 2006. Fellow executives are said to value his judgment, and he is often called in to help out with touchy editorial conflicts—a fairly common occurrence these days as executives have wrestled to merge the just-the-facts culture of NBC News with the more freewheeling sensibilities of MSNBC. NBC said it has no timetable for filling the position.
