E-mail Security: It's Not Safe to Share
E-mail and data security solutions are available in different deployment configurations, from hardware and virtual appliances to software. Another option -- on-demand software or software as a service (SaaS) -- is rapidly gaining traction as a viable alternative for many organizations. But, why? In a 2007 study, research firm IDC predicted that nearly 97 billion e-mails would be sent daily worldwide. Most e-mail security firm measurements indicate that spam represents between 70-80% of the total inbound e-mail volume hitting enterprises today. This continuing plague of spam and the rising sophistication of e-mail-borne viruses and worms is another major factor in organizations' turning to on-demand e-mail security services.
