Comcast Corp. and the Big Ten Network are very close to a deal that will initially transmit the 24-hour college network on Comcast's main channel package in the eight states with Big Ten schools, sources close to the negotiations say.

That’s the gist of a survey of economists released last week by the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.

The semiannual Livingston survey of 34 economists shows gross domestic product rising an annual rate of 0.6 percent for the first half of 2008 and 1.7 percent for the second half.
