In spite of the fact that the Nintendo company denies any involvement in its creation, an online video featuring a woman working out using the new Wii Fit game is making its way around the internet virally and is creating tons of buzz for the company. The video, which is titled "Why every guy should buy their girlfriend a Wii Fit," has generated more than two million views and was originally suspected to be a clever, racy marketing ploy from Nintendo.

Residents of Chebeauge Island, Maine are rallying to get Kraft to bring the recently discontinued Crown Pilot cracker back onto the market. The cracker, which Kraft claims is lacking in demand, enjoys a very loyal following in that region, and fans are doing what they can to get Kraft's attention, starting with the "Crown Pilot Movement." The Crown Pilot movement website features letters and comments from disappointed customers and encourages Crown Pilot enthusiasts to call the company to demand the cracker be put back into circulation. According to the article, the cracker was discontinued once before, back in 1996, but was resuscitated due similar action from its customers.

A new group, calling itself "Take Back the Tour," has started a movement to encourage cycling enthusiasts to champion Tour de France competitors who choose to compete without using performance-enhancing drugs. The movement hopes to use buzz and fan influence to bring riders back to the "clean" side of riding and help the Tour regain its authenticity. Cycling enthusiasts can join the movement, read statements and comments from other cyclists, and weigh in themselves about the effects that highly publicized doping scandals have had on the Tour, as well as what they intend to do about it to take back the tour.

Work on WOMMA's fourth volume of â€ÂMeasuring Word of Mouth†is underway, which means this is a great time to roll up your sleeves, get involved, and show off the amazing work your company has done in word of mouth research.
>> Submit a Word of Mouth Marketing Research Paper
------------------------------------
Whether you choose to submit a paper to the main body of the book or to our special section on valuing a conversation, your contribution sets you apart as an expert in the WOM industry. Not only that, contributions to â€ÂMeasuring Word of Mouth, Vol. 4†will inform the content for our 2008 Research Symposium in November -- so folks whose research work is accepted into the book will have first dibs on speaking slots.
And you don't have to start from scratch. This is a great way to get more mileage out of work that your company has already done. If you have a research report, research article, or research-based whitepaper, repurposing it based on the "Measuring Word of Mouth" guidelines is an excellent way to increase the value of the work you've done.
>> Submission Timeline
-------------------------------------
* June 30 - Topic Proposal Submissions Due (HURRY!)
* July 28 - First Draft of Papers Due
* Sept. 15 - Final Paper Submissions Due
* Nov. 12 - Research Symposium (Paper Presentations)

TV Guide, which recently underwent a significant overhaul, is expanding its coverage to include a Watercooler section, dedicated to buzz about shows, commercials, and online video. The introduction of the section is representative of the magazine's push to increase relevance beyond what's on T.V. and will showcase a who's-who of what's being talked about both on T.V. and online.
