Dear Criss,
College campuses aren't like they were when you and I were in school. Students today are deluged with anti-American diatribes and Marxist economics from their professors. These professors, university administrators, and campus activists will stop at nothing to indoctrinate the younger generation to their way of thinking.
The situation is particularly bad for young female students.
- They are force-fed a diet of anti-male, anti-capitalist propaganda in their "women's studies" classes and in so many other classes as well.
- They are expected to tow the radical feminist line when they speak up in classroom debates.
- They are lectured to by radical feminists who see men as the enemy, and America as evil.
- They are pressured to join on-campus groups like NOW.
- Perhaps worse yet, they see traditional relationships and old-fashioned romance ridiculed and torn down by their professors and fellow students.
Young women who look forward to a husband and kids as well as a career are looked down upon and criticized, and those who dare to speak out against the radical feminists' vision are ostracized.
How do I know so much about what's happening on campuses? It's because the Independent Women's Forum just welcomed 4 new interns to work with us this summer. These conservative young women, who are anxious to learn more about free-market, limited government ideas, told me just how difficult it is to be a conservative on campus today.
That is why IWF established the R. Gaull Silberman Center for Collegiate Studies and why I hope you will help us today. This Center is named after our late founder, "Ricky" Silberman and is the new home for our pro-freedom outreach to college women. Ricky's generous friends and family have offered to match every gift received for the Center, up to $50,000.
So your gift today to IWF and our Silberman Center would be effectively doubled and you will help the Center realize its full potential. With your help, we will:
- Create a Speakers Bureau to help the campus conservative groups who are challenging the left-wing monopoly at colleges.
- Bring free-market intellectual ammunition to campuses with a series of in-depth research studies geared at college students.
- Spotlight liberal outrages on campus to make more people aware of the unfair treatment given to those who stand up to the leftist ideologues.
We will also expand our annual essay contest, increase our presence on the Internet, and train more interns on conservative ideals. I hope you will visit our site at www.iwf.org to see some of the resources we have available to college students.
Through the Silberman Center, we are challenging the feminist monopoly, and getting our sensible, pro-freedom ideas to college women across the country. I hope you will help us take advantage of this matching gift opportunity today.
If you are able to give a $100 contribution to IWF today, it will be matched immediately and we will have $200 to devote to building our campus programs. Your gift of $250 will become $500, and will go twice as far in helping us spotlight feminist outrages. Your gift of $500 will enable us to put $1,000 towards expanding our Speakers Bureau.
Will you help us today? Remember, your gifts to IWF are tax-deductible. Every contribution we receive, no matter the amount, will help us get closer to our goal, and will help us reach thousands more young women with our pro-freedom message. |
Sincerely,
Michelle D. Bernard President and CEO |
