Modern Recording Techniques (Sixth Edition)
by David Miles Huber, Robert E. Runstein
Published February 2005
Average Rating: [unrated]

A thorough introduction on how the recording process fits into the music
industry may seem off topic, but the bulk of this book will help new
starters build a powerful and reliable setup and allow hobbyists to ensure
their work is to a high standard. This is a great starting point book and
covers all the important issues from Human Perception of Sound, through to
acoustically treating your room for the best results. Professional working
practices and the details of digital audio are also given a chapter.
Microphone technique is discussed in detail so you can achieve the best
possible original effects and Foley work for your game.

Reading this book will provide you with a solid base from which you can
apply the information provided and start getting somewhere. Better, and
cheaper, than a HND in Music Technology.
