On Sunday the connections of both "Tomcito" and "Spark Candle" announced that their runners will not participate in this Saturday's Belmont Stakes. The defections leave a field of eight challengers that will try and derail "Big Brown" from his spot in history.

Entries and post positions will be drawn late Wednesday afternoon for the Belmont Stakes.

Our Saturday racing newsletter will be available early on Friday morning with a total of five races from Saturday's Belmont Stakes card.

DELAWARE PARK Race #SEVEN (3:25 PM Eastern)

(# 6) INDY VICTOR - Improving colt will be racing on the grass and against winners for the first time. Nicely done maiden win on the dirt here last out and he's come back to work sharply. Dangerous if he handles the infield.

(# 2) Elusive Fox - This gelding hasn't won on the turf, but has run well in both of his attempts. He'll be making his first start since November 18, but is working steadily and he's raced well "off the bench" before.

(# 4) Pattysbuddy - Speed-popped a field of claimers last out and did it in style. Race was by far his best ever and if he can transfer his speed to the infield he would be tough. Ran on the grass earlier this year at Tampa and raced evenly.

(# 5) Extreme Notice - This California invader will be attempting this tricky five-furlong distance for the first time. He's won at six-furlongs, but he'll need to break sharply and get some early position to have his best shot at the win.
