Artist / best-selling thriller writer Jonathan Santlofer will be at Murder By The Book, Wednesday, July 16, 6:30 p.m., to sign & discuss his new crime novel, The Murder Notebook (HarperCollins; $24.95). Police forensic artist Nate Rodriguez is plagued by visions of crimes -- both past and present -- in this second novel of visual suspense from the acclaimed author and artist. Includes Santlofer illustrations throughout.
Santlofer, whose many awards include two National Endowment for the Arts painting grants, began his writing career in 1989 after a gallery fire destroyed five years of his artwork. To make sense of the loss, he picked up a pen -- and now he pursues both passions -- his writing and his artwork -- with equal passion.
Santlofer is widely recognized for his innovative and imaginative suspense fiction including his NYPD sketch artist Nate Rodriguez series which features original sketches drawn by the author himself throughout the plot of the novels. Now in The Murder Notebook, Rodriguez has visions of two crimes -- one past, one present -- and must unravel the link between two suspicious murder/suicides to expose a shocking secret that brings him dangerously close to highly-confidential military and government programs.
