Brian Wenning, switch backside smith grind.
In last weeks Newsclip we filled you in on the latest happenings with half of the skate team. This week were finishing what we started. Heres coverage on the rest of the boys:
Brian Wenning has been splitting time between Jersey and Los Angeles for the last few months. When hes on the West Coast he usually stays at PJs house.
Ryan Smith was off his board for a little while, but if youve been watching dcskateboarding.tv you know that hes skating again, looking to be 100% and charging hard again by this summer. Hes been with the team in Nashville for the last few days, getting some filming done before Saturdays signing and demo at the Backyard BBQ in Nashville (details below).
PJ Ladd has been skating around L.A. a lot lately, driving south to DC headquarters pretty often to work on his still-top secret signature shoe. Its not due out until next January, but we can tell you this: itll be next level.
Colin McKay is currently with the team in Nashville getting some tricks before Saturdays Backyard BBQ. Colin and the team are hyped on all the surprising spots in Tennessee... especially one hidden backyard ditch.

FLAWLESS VICTORY FOR PASTRANA AT OREGON TRAIL RALLY
Travis, bubbly spray.
Last weekend Travis Pastrana earned his first win of the 2008 Rally America National Championship season by taking the dominating victory at Oregon Trail!
Oregon Trail is one of the fastest, most technical courses on the circuit, starting out on tarmac before hitting the gravel and weaving its way through Oregons trees. With such a difficult course, over half of the field was forced to retire, either suffering mechanical troubles, crashing hard, or faltering off of the course. (Even Traviss teammate Ken Block was KOd after a misleading course note sent him over a steep bank, a situation that was impossible to get out of).
TP blazes on day 1.
Travis on the other hand looked to be on another level out there, handling the course perfectly. By the end of the first day he was up 14 seconds on the field. By the conclusion of day two he was nearly a minute and a half up. And by the end of the rally, despite a flat tire right at the end, he had bettered the rest of the field by three and a half minutes.
I just started driving smooth and fast while it seemed everyone around me was hitting trouble, it was a wild event," said Travis. "The roads were just amazing, lots of fun but very challenging."
The win puts Travis right in the 2008 Rally America National Championship hunt, currently sitting in 2nd place just one point out of the top position. And Ken, despite the bad luck in Oregon, is right behind Travis sitting 3rd in the overall standings. For more information on Oregon Trail and the rest of SRT USAs happenings, go to rally.subaru.com.

KEN BLOCK HANDS OVER HIS RALLY CAR TO DAVE MIRRA!
Left: Ken personalizes his old, Dave's new, Subaru. Right: Dave and the car, which got a quick decal change from Ken's #43 to Dave's #40.
For 2008 Dave Mirra has been getting his feet wet in rally racing, competing in select events with the help of his friend, fellow rally driver, and DC Co-founder Ken Block. Last Sunday at Oregon Trail was graduation day, as Ken Block surprised him by trading Daves rally car for his!
It all went down after Dave and Ken were both forced to withdraw from Oregon Trail because they slide off the road and got stuck. With both drivers out of competition for the weekend, Ken presented Dave with his higher-power Subi
Ken finished the day in Daves Subaru, and Dave got the chance to finish the rally in a high power, fully decked Subaru.
The timing was perfect to upgrade Dave to the new whip: hes been using a lower spec, non-turbo Impreza all year and hes now got some solid rallying hours under his belt. Anyway, Ken was ready to upgrade to the new 2008 Subaru WRX STi platform for the next rally, Susquehannock (STPR).
Look out for Dave behind the wheel of Ken's old car, and Ken piloting his all-new Subaru next month at STPR!

KAGY KICKS OFF SEASON WITH VERT WIN AT ASIAN X
Kagy, green Manteca's on his feet, gold on his neck.
A few weeks ago the Asian X Games went down, and Chad Kagy defended his title in the vert contest by once again taking the Gold medal! Chad basically dominated the contest, easily taking the win and getting the large crowd in attendance super pumped.
Not only was the win a great kick-off to the season; it was a comeback of sorts. This was Chads first contest after shattering his collarbone during MegaRamp practice at last summers X Games. Congrats Chad!
After winning the Gold the folks at ESPN caught up with Chad to ask him a few questions
go here for the short interview.

BRUCE IRONS TO QUIT COMPETITIVE SURFING?
Bruce Irons to quit surfing competitively on the WCT? That's what he's saying on Surfing Magazine's site, at least. In the interview excerpt Bruce notes that now, after four years on the strenuous contest circuit, he's going to stop competing and focus on his true passion, freesurfing. For us, that means less of Bruce in florescent contest jerseys and more shots of him in the mags and videos... definitely a good thing. Follow this link for the shortened interview, then stay tuned for the full-blown piece in an upcoming print issue of Surfing Magazine.
