Dear Cliford,

More great news: the Family Communication Bill just passed the California Senate!  With your help, we convinced both Republicans and Democrats to support our bill to help imprisoned youth connect with their families. The Family Communication and Youth Rehabilitation Act (SB 1250) breezed through the Senate by a vote of 30-4 yesterday.  This is a major victory for the youth still languishing in Division of Juvenile Justice prisons, and for the family members who struggle so hard to keep their children going. Thank you for your help in making it happen -- our activists and Families for Books Not Bars members sent hundreds of messages of support to their state senators in the days leading up to the vote!

What's next for our bill: The Family Communication Bill now heads to the Assembly for another round of votes.  We'll keep you posted on how you can help keep up this incredible momentum!

Justice for families,
