Inside this issue... Our National TreasureHi Raquelle, I spent last weekend in Southern California with some friends whose brother just graduated from the Marine Corps boot camp. It reminded me we are a country at war. Daily, men and women around the world place themselves in harm’s way to protect our liberty and way of life.
This Monday, Memorial Day, is set aside to honor the memories of those who died in military service. The tradition began after the American Civil War as a way to remember those fallen in service, to recall the ultimate sacrifice paid by some for the good of all.
In every generation, valiant men and women have gone to battle for us. As we enjoy our three-day weekend, let’s give thanks for those who’ve gone before and pray for those still in the midst of conflict.
Our thoughts and prayers also extend to Steven Curtis Chapman’s family, who suffered the tragic loss of their youngest daughter this week.

Her other passions are speaking to women’s groups (visit her website to see her speaking schedule; www.nancystafford.com) and writing (“Beauty by the Book: Seeing Yourself As God Sees You” and “The Wonder of His Love: A Journey into the Heart of God”). Nancy is very warm and gracious and recently spent some time talking with me about her newest film project, The Wager, in which she co-stars with Randy Travis, Bronson Pinchot, and Candace Cameron Bure. CC.com: What was it like to work with Randy Travis?
Nancy: It was the greatest. He’s just awesome. He’s one of those guys that you’re in awe of. He’s very successful and talented in so many genres, yet he’s down-to-earth. He’s just kind of “one of the guys.”
In most productions, the tone is set by the production team and the main actor, and they set a beautiful tone for the picture. It was a joy to be on the set.
It’s kind of a funny thing, too. When we first got together to read some of the key scenes before we started shooting, I reminded him that he had done “Matlock.” He then reminded me... One reason is that most of the attention it did get was appreciative and respectful, unusually so for a Christian film. The movie "Midnight Clear may never achieve Christmas-classic status," wrote reviewer J. B. Mitchell in the Orlando Weekly. "But like [other Christmas films], this . . . production is ultimately affecting . . ." This is a powerful movie. The plot deals with forgiveness and real-life heartaches such as losing a loved one or friend, and broken romances. In contrast to the forgiveness the characters display to one another, it realistically depicts an over-zealous woman who condemns others for their lifestyle choices. Yet she is put in her place by the film's end. John Schneider, the star of this film, gives an excellent and humorous performance as Gary, a character who is skeptical of religion. Since the film does boldly deal with controversial subjects such as abortion and homosexuality, and it leads to a satisfying conclusion, we recommend the movie for ages twelve and above.

National Treasure: Book Of Secrets - DVD by Christine Packard "I just have to say that despite one or two MINOR details that might be offensive to some, I really liked this and the first movie. They are clever, interesting, historical, and very clean compared to some CHRISTIAN movies that I have seen. Yes, Christian movies. My only regret is that there is probably not going to be a third! If you like clean adventure, than I totally recommend this series! (Some say it is boring, but of course it is if you are used to worldly, sexual, and stimulant infused Hollywood movies!) I would watch it first before showing it to children just because of the adventure parts in it. Enjoy!" Midnight Clear (2007) - DVD by Christine Packard "A story about REAL LIFE. No fireworks, no and-everything-was-perfect-after-that ending, but it was still powerful. Top quality production and acting, the acting was especially good. It is amazing how it is seemingly simple, yet if you look deeper, there are so many important messages going out. I give this movie a 5 star because it is real. " [ Read more... ] Buyer Review Rating:
