We nailed the Kentucky Derby winner just two weeks ago with our selection of Big Brown and look to do the same today with the 133rd running of the second jewel of the Triple Crown.

The Preakness Stakes will be run as the 12th race on a 13-race card at historic Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. We have five selections from today's Pimlico card including our selections for the Preakness.

Post-time is 6:15 pm (EST) and the race will be televised by NBC. Good Luck and enjoy the excellent card!

A Triple Crown Winner in 2008?

Prior to the Kentucky Derby, you are typically required to lay about $1000 to win $100 on a “no” bet that there will be a Triple Crown Winner. Based on historic win rates, that’s probably about right.

Now that the favorite won the Derby (we picked the three-year-old Big Brown), and won from the 20th post by an sizable margin, the odds have dropped considerably.

PIMLICO Race #(TEN) THE DIXIE (G2) (4:25 PM Eastern)

(# 6) STAY CLOSE - Good turf horse has an excellent grass record (21-8-3-2) and has a good tactical gear in a race where that may play out well over the late finishers. He's won 2 of 3 on this course and that is another plus in his favor. With a break or two he could upset the favorite, #4 Shakis.

(# 4) Shakis - The probable favorite and no doubt a strong win contender. Winner of the "Bernard Baruch" (G2) at Saratoga last year and he placed in several other important events. Probably needed his seasonal bow in the "Makers Mark" (G1) at Keeneland I almost put him on top here. It's hard to separate the top two selections.

(# 2) Distorted Reality - Hinted at ability last year when three, winning the "Lexington" stakes and placing in four other added money events. Won his seasonal debut at Aqueduct on April 18 over a pretty decent field in that "optional" claimer. Has good tactical speed and may improve off his first start of the year for the Pletcher/Velazquez combination.

(# 8) Salinja - Solid runner appears to be below the top three in ability and would need a career best to topple these. Has some speed and there's not a lot of that commodity on view. Has hit the board in 19 of 31 lifetime turf races including several stakes.
