SKATE TEAM UPDATE!
Part 1 of 2
Josh Kalis, noseblunt.
Here’s our quarterly update on the skate team, part 1 of 2:

Ryan Gallant has been skating around San Diego a bunch, also finding time to produce hip hop beats out of his house under the name “Burger Beats.” Besides the DJ stuff, he’s leaving for Tennessee next week for the Backyard BBQ in Nashville, then leaving for Hawaii immediately after that for a DC demo and signing. After that, a trip across Canada with the Plan B team.

Josh Kalis has been filming nonstop for the much-anticipated Workshop video. "I've been logging lots of sky-miles," he said. After recently going to NYC and Chicago, he's hitting a few more places to polish off his part. He’ll also be headed down to Nashville next week for the Journeys Backyard BBQ.

Danny Way has been skating a bit of everything: MegaRamp, pools, and the streets. On top of that, he’s built a music studio underneath the DC vert ramp here in Vista, CA… there’s a couple secret music projects in the works. He'll be at the Backyard BBQ and in Hawaii with the rest of the team later this month.

Lindsey Robertson.
Traveling with the Chocolate crew, Devine Calloway is currently in Europe.

Having just moved to a new house in Carlsbad, Lindsey Robertson has been spending a lot of time skating So. Cal. If you missed his interview that ran in the DC Newsclip two weeks ago follow this link… Juice is pretty funny.
Greg Myers, rather large kickflip.
Going on trips with Black Box and handling things with Krew, Greg Myers got home to San Diego and somehow finds time to breed chihuahuas... if you need one hit Greg up. Next, he'll be at the Backyard BBQ with the rest of the team on May 24.

Stay tuned… having now covered 6 of the dudes on the team, we’ll fill you in on the rest of the guys—McKay, Dyrdek, Smith, Ladd, Wenning—next week.
A FEW FLIX FROM SUPERPARK IN MAMMOTH
Last week Snowboarder Magazine shut down a part of Mammoth Mountain, built a bunch of really interesting features and jumps, and hosted the 12th annual Superpark. The whole session went great… the last day Travis Rice even brought in a heli to video Lonnie and a very select group of other riders. DC photog Colin Adair was there too… here, he presents a few photos of what went down:
L: Scotty Vine.
R: Hakon from the flow team, backside 180.

.
L: Chas Guldemond, switch method.
R: Lonnie Kauk with an expensive machine documenting his actions.

.
L: Lonnie gaps the channel left to right with a cab 540.
R: Aaron Biittner, backside 180 with a shadow.

.
L: Jonas Carlson, working hard… or hardly working.
R: Eddie Wall broke his collarbone while shooting with Forum 2 weeks ago. He still came out!

.
L: T-Rice came down to throw an indy, among others.
R: Biittner, quarterpipe fun slash.

.
For more, check out Snowboarder Magazine’s site. They’ve posted heaps of photos. Go here for flix from the final day, and then explore the rest of the site for the rest of the action.
COREY BOHAN TAKES 3RD AT ELEVATION GUADALAJARA

Bohan, tailwhip off the first hit.
This year Red Bull Elevation left its previous home on the slopes of Whistler to head down Mexico way. Guadalajara was the new spot for the BMX dirt comp, and Corey Bohan, having taken a podium spot for the last three years straight (2nd in 2005, 1st in 2006, 2nd in 2007), continued his streak by taking 3rd place.
Bohan: champagne, sombrero, and a big check.
Going down in front of 10,000 wilds fans at a grassy park in the middle of the city, Elevation Guadalajara featured a very well groomed long trail-style track with various line and transfer options… certainly a stark contrast to the three kicker comps seen at X Games and Dew Tour. To score, riders have to ride clean, smooth, and high… style wins over spinning and quadruple whips here.

The format fits Corey’s riding perfectly. After qualifying first on Saturday, Corey rolled through Sunday with casual finesse, edging out DC teammates Chris Doyle (5th) and am Mike Clark (6th) to take the final podium spot. There, Corey was greeted with a big check and an onslaught of media as the Governor of that region showed up with a full mariachi band to celebrate. Arriba!
To get a look at the whole contest, you have to check out our Elevation photo gallery in the BMX section at dcshoes.com. We’ve posted a ton of photos that’ll dial you into the action that went down in front of 10,000 screaming Mexicans.

DANIEL DHERS BAGS THE RIDE BMX COVER

DC’s newest BMX team rider, Daniel Dhers has landed his first cover with the most recent issue of Ride BMX Magazine! Inside the issue you get an extended 14-page feature on Daniel as the mag followed him home to Venezuela. In it Daniel talks about new tricks, copying tricks, and his accelerated journey from riding the streets of Caracas just a few years ago to winning X Games last year.

See it all in the June 2008 issue of Ride BMX Magazine, out now.

DILLON PERILLO AND TODD RICHARDS(?) IN SURFER MAGAZINE
Dillon, green room.

Check out the new issue of Surfer for a profile on am team member Dillon Perillo, who’s billed as this month’s “Hot 100 Performer of the Month.” The mag says, “Somehow the regularfooter has escaped the single fin vortex that is first point, dodge the stand up and celebrity scenes, and manage to become a Golden State star in his own right.”

After you get past that Dillon spread, check out Todd Richards as he closes out the issue. In the piece we get a glimpse at T.R.’s other passion, surfing, that he does when he’s not doing his real job, snowboarding.

The June 2008 issue of Surfer is in shops now.
