You don't mention your purpose. If the site is for information only with few expected hits a week a solution would be different to an e-commerce site with thousands of hits a day. I wouldn't suggest setting up your own server without considerable IT support being available. Shared hosting doesn't cost much, but whether it works for you depends on your site intentions. Avoid expensive software unless you expect to do this again and again. If you know Windows software and are familiar with 'frames' the cheapest and easiest route is WebPlus from Serif. This has templates and its just a case of filling in the blanks. If you need graphics then your problems start mounting. Photoshop is for very clever artists and not the novice. If you have some expertise but want to pay only a little try Ability Software. They have 'Photopaint'. Its main advantage is that its cheap and its permits Photoshop plug-ins. This would give you effects at a lower cost than using Photoshop itself.

Hi Bobby
The essentials you're looking for to 'host' a website are
a) a computer - a PC/MAC/Linux/Other box - which can be left on and directly or indirectly connected to a telephone line.
b) an internet service provider to act as gateway to the internet
c) software to create and upload (if you're hosting remotely), or to create and publish your content locally
d) a willingness to abandon a social life for a while...
As you might expect there are dozens of options for both hardware and software, and what works for a personal blog with 50 hits per week won't work for Facebook.
There are also ongoing issues of marketing, maintenance and income generation.
You might try doing a survey of a few interesting websites to see whether individual operators are willing give you a summary of the facilities they use/ have used.

Hi Patricia,
I do not think that there is one site with one page that will give you what you want, but you can easily contruct something that fits your needs by making a tbale in word with columns or one in excel with enough columns.
For the expressions themselves I would search on wikepedia, as they have in many languages the basic expressions in that lanuguage. For instance if you seacrh in wikipedia on "french language" and then click through to samples, you get something like this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_%28language%29#Samples
which suits your needs.
bonne chance, marc

I would say they definitely play a part in training, so go for one if you get the opportunity. In fact business/corporate libraries are a much better place to do one than a big academic library because you can be flexible in what you're allowed to do, you won't just be shelving and stamping books. Done right, it will give you skills and opportunities that will set up your professional career, and if you're really lucky and you like the organisation you might get to stay and they'll help you through your library qualification.
Best of luck!

I definitely agree with Helen. Go for a company; and recognise that, while you will be asked to to dogsbody stuff (photocopying springs to mind), this should be balanced with more exciting work. Getting a post in law will be excellent for your CV, if this is your desired work area. This is still one area that's almost impossible to get in without 'experience', even after you're qualified!
Good luck; enjoy!
cheers - Zena

I need to see a full text copy of the BAA Credit Derivatives Report 2006.
Any suggestions where I can find this without having to pay for a copy.
BL and BIIP do not hold it.
Many thanks.
