Norman readies for new Healthplex facility
The Norman Regional Health System has doubled in size since David Whitaker arrived in 1999, and on Monday, the system's president and chief executive officer and dozens of others from health and civic organizations looked upward to see a crane lift a tree onto the top of the nine-floor, $100 million Healthplex. The facility, which is at the southwest corner of Interstate 35 and Tecumseh Road in Norman, is set to open in summer of 2009.
Dollar Thrifty posts $297.9M 1Q loss
Two sizable charges hung a $297.9 million first-quarter loss on Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group Inc. That drop of $14.07 per diluted share – far below the year-ago profit of $5.2 million, or 21 cents – reflected a $12.52 loss per diluted share due to good will and other assets, and a 78-cent decrease in the fair value of derivatives.

Magellan plots $240M pipeline, terminal additions
Magellan Midstream Partners will spend $240 million to build an 80-mile pipeline, and enhance two Texas terminals, to better serve the nation's largest refinery. The 16-inch-diameter pipeline, expected to go online in 2011, will accommodate up to 150,000 barrels of refined petroleum products from the Port Arthur, Texas, refinery hub to Magellan's East Houston terminal, entry point to its 8,500-mile pipeline system.

Bar officials ask U.S. Congress to boost legal services funding
State bar association presidents are asking Congress to boost legal services funding to at least $400 million for fiscal year 2009. In a recent letter to the chairmen of budget subcommittees that set Legal Services Corp. funding, the bar organization heads said that if the agency was funded at its 1995 level, adjusted for inflation, it would receive $576 million. Its 1995 budget funding level was $415 million.
