How to Buy an LCD HDTV
Looking to upgrade your entertainment experience with a slick new LCD TV? Here's what you need to know to choose the best set.
Kyle: Robert Heron's recent "How to Buy a Plasma HDTV" story is what helped me pick out my current plasma display, so I know firsthand how helpful these articles are for shoppers. An LCD wouldn't be right for my dark living room, and I love the deep blacks that my plasma offers. Are you a plasma or LCD guy?
Dan:When I moved into my new place I got a 47-inch Sharp Aquos LCD, and I love it. My apartment has skylights and I can't block out the light, so I need the brighter display. Plasmas are better for watching movies at night, but at least with the LCD I can watch TV during the day. (Not that I do that…much.)

Review: Apple iMac (24-inch Penryn)
The iconic iMac now adds a next-gen Intel Penryn processor to its mix. It's faster, more powerful, and still the one to beat.
Dan: What ever happened to plain on desktop PCs? The kind where you could pop open the case to add more memory, or pull the hard drive? I mean, I like the all-in-ones just fine, but it is possible they are too clean-looking and elegant. Sometimes I just want a system I can get my hands into and play with. I guess the iMac just isn't for me. What about you?
Kyle: I've got the original aluminum iMac, and its space-saving design fits my apartment well. I've heard criticisms that the iMac is basically a desktop with laptop components inside, but unless you're doing processor-heavy tasks like video editing, I don't see how that's a problem. Instead of calling it a desktop PC with laptop guts, why not call it a laptop with a huge screen and better keyboard and mouse?

Home Networking 101
Building a new home network? It doesn't have to be tough, if you follow our five easy steps.
Kyle: This is a great story for networking newbies who want to start with the basics. And I bet there are a lot of people out there who don't know how much hardware they already have that can be added to a home network. Besides PCs, there are game consoles, TiVos, hard drives, cameras; heck, you can even add some HDTVs and SD cards to a home network!
Dan: This is going to be one of the biggest challenges for users over the next year. Setting up a wireless network is easy enough, but getting your PlayStation 3 to play your music files over your network is quite another. Picking the right hardware is the first part, but this story goes a long way to telling users how to make it all work. Good stuff.

Review: Apple Leopard Server
Apple's new Leopard Server operating system will not only make Tiger Server users happy, it will finally give the Apple market a viable alternative to Windows Small Business Server.
Dan: There are going to be a lot of changes in the SMB server market this year. Windows Server 2008 Enterprise is out and an SMB version is due soon. With Leopard Server, Apple has a legitimate offering. After putting it through its paces in the Labs, Leopard Server delivers a few good reasons for Mac-based small businesses to upgrade. Thing is, I don't see any reason for current Microsoft users to switch. Do you?
Kyle: The server market seems to be all about momentum. Once your IT department and network infrastructure are set up to run Windows Server, you'll probably be a Windows house for life. Then again, this review got a ton of traffic last week, so maybe there are more potential switchers out there than I thought.
